"Sky Tears"


The ground beckons for my cold flesh's embrace, and I am all alone.

While you watch from above,
In the warm embrace of Tomorrow,
I stand here on my own,
Numbed by the frozen air.

Can you hear my skies rain from all the way up there?

And here I stand,
                 way down here,
                              stuck inside the lonely pit of Yesterday.

Looking up from six feet down,
I can only see the stygian darkness of the stormclouds reign.

The cerulean blue sky is nothing but a memory to my bloodstained eyes;
Scarred by weakness, pain, intolerance and solitude.

And there, just when it couldn't get any colder, any darker,
The rain begins to fall, and the ground beneath my eyes sees floods.

These teardrops of the sky, do you feel them too?
Do they fall on your skin, just as they fall on mine?

                       ...or am I all alone once more?

These droplets, each with a story of its own,
They feel almost warm to the touch;

They feel almost human to the touch.

And I wish you could hear this rain pour down,
As the sky sheds its tears on us all.

I wrote this a couple weeks ago . . . I'm now listening to Jimmy Eat World's unbelievable song Polaris, which fits in with the feel of this piece very suitably. If "suitably" is even a word.

Anyway, I drew the pic and wrote the poem; both took a while to do. All up, I dunno more than 10 hours? I took my time on this one, and I'm a slow drawer/writer sooo yeah. It's a marathon for me ><''
